Lough Allen


The 3,500 hectare Lough Allen sits along the River Shannon near the Iron Mountains. The isosceles triangle shaped lake is believed to date back to Mesolithic times and it later become the site of iron works. Today, Lough Allen is a popular fishing spot and hosts numerous international angling competitions throughout the year.
